Mental health | community inclusion | social relationships | anxiety | temper tantrums | obsessive compulsive behaviours | mood fluctuations | skin picking

PWS can have significant impact on behavior, learning, mental and physical health, community inclusion and social relationships. People with PWS exhibit high anxiety, complex and challenging behaviors and cognitive dysfunction and delayed social and emotional development throughout their lives.

A behavioural therapist/psychologist can aid in developing strategies to help someone with Prader-Willi Syndrome who exhibits undesirable behavioural characteristics such as, temper tantrums, obsessive and compulsive behaviours and mood fluctuations.

Skin picking is also a common characteristic of Prader-Willi Syndrome, although it is unknown why this occurs. behavioural therapy seems to be the most common treatment for this symptom of Prader-Willi Syndrome
